Velcorin Services
Mobile Velcorin Dosing
We also offer a mobile Velcorin dosing service. The mobile
service can be utilized at the time of bottling, whether or not you
are using THE BOTTLE MEISTER's mobile bottling service, and for tank
to tank transfers. Velcorin (dimethyl dicarbonate) is an FDA
regulated microbial control agent which is highly effective, even in
low dosages, against a variety of yeasts (including Brettanomyces),
some mold, fungi and bacteria in wine. It works synergistically with
SO2 and rapidly breaks down into small
amounts of carbon dioxide and methanol, affecting neither the taste,
color, nor aroma of the wine. Velcorin has no labeling requirements.
According to the United States International Trade Commission, it is
currently used by about 10% of the U.S. wine industry to avoid
excessive filtration in the manufacturing process. Velcorin is
produced by Lanxess Corporation (formerly Bayer A.G.) and is
distributed exclusively by Scott Laboratories. Please contact
